        Appen is one of the biggest crowdsourcing platforms in the world.

        More than 500,000 employees all over the world work for this company. It has lots of experience of working with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Goggle, YouTube and so on.

Actually, I am not supposed to tell you anything about all of these projects, since as an independent Appen contractor, I signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which forbids me to share information about all types of projects I am working on or I have worked on before.

All crowdsourcing projects are mainly related to the following areas:

• searching for information (search engine evaluator role)
• evaluating content (social media evaluator role)
• completing short quizzes and surveys (a job for everyone, who was accepted by Appen without any qualification processes)
• recording your voice (a job for everyone, who can speak)
• QA testing (a job for everyone, who are well-known with the basic principles of apps testing)
• doing translations and transcriptions (a job for professional linguists and translators)
• rating pictures, videos, games and so on

All of these roles can involve the following assignments:

• doing researches on the Internet, arranging content, evaluating and categorizing of specific users queries
• evaluating different kinds of content (ads, topics, histories, events, news, etc.) in social platforms

I’ve been working as a social media evaluator for more than 2 years, and I am proud of having such a wonderful part-time job, which brings me about 600-800$ additional income monthly. Firstly, you are supposed to learn some rules and instructions relating to the offered project then pass an exam to be qualified for it. It'll help you to obtain necessary skills, and trust me, it can do everyone, this is not a math or other complicated subjects, which you’ll have to learn.

Besides, I am going to share a secret with you. You know, most of Appen projects on social platforms are similar (similar tasks, instructions, recommendations). They don't have the same names, but their background is quite similar, so it might be easy to turn from one project to another.

Once you successfully qualified for one of these projects, you'll be able to work on it with minimal efforts, this can be a great advantage for you. However, if you didn't do well on your qualification exam, don’t worry about it, don’t be disappointed, another project might be offered for you quite soon depends on their business opportunities and it might have similar qualification process and tasks as well, so you'll do your best on it next time.

Another trick I wanted to share with you, especially if you are new and have just been accepted as an Appen contractor is to qualify for each project you’ll be offered, even if you are not certain they’ll be suitable. Just apply to increase your chances to be offered a qualification exam, otherwise you might be waiting for a long time until Appen recruiting team consider your application for your preferable project.
So be careful, just do your best and follow my advice and you'll be rewarded.

How to apply and create your own account? Step by step instruction.

1. Click this link to go to the registration page.

2.       Choose your country.

         Important notice: you must be living there during the last years and have a residency (actually, I do not think that they can check it).

3. Tell them about your language skills to have a chance for participating in linguistic or translation projects if you wish (I recommend do it even if you aren't sure if you need it).

4. Let them know about your translation abilities (languages, that you'll be able to translate from and to).

5. Start filling out the application form, do it carefully.
Important notice:

• Choose an option of your preferable status: you'll be working for Appen as an independent contractor or cooperating if you have own business
• Don’t forget to agree with company policy, be sure that you read it carefully
• Enter your personal data, which are required
• Don’t be afraid of leaving your real contacts (phone number and email): email they’ll need to communicate with you, phone number maybe they’ll never use if you notify them you aren’t willing to make phone calls (during project registration)

• Carefully work on your resume (CV) if you wish to be accepted and load it on their website. I am going to write my next article about how to create a really impressive resume
• Point your education level. Don’t worry if you have got neither master’s nor bachelor’s degree, as you remember I wrote they don’t have strict requirements for candidates
• Choose your preferable working hours per week, let them know, how much time are you willing to work, that way you let them choose the right projects due to your busyness
• Choose your referral source, which let you know about this opportunity

• You should confirm (choose “YES”) all their requirements, otherwise, you might not be accepted
• Point if you have any appropriate experience and a company where you worked before, don’t worry if you don’t have it yet, be confident they’ll give you a chance to start your career
• I recommend not pointing your fake previous experience, I don’t think, they can ever check it, but you let them know you can do some jobs with no troubles. However, if you fail the qualification exam you can lose their trust
• Confirm that you are 18 years old or older, since teens won’t be accepted for work

After submitting your application, you will be sent a verification code to your email account you gave them. Check it and enter this code in the required form.
After that you will be asked the following questions:

• if you have a smartphone with enable internet connection. You’ll just have to scan QR-code with your own smartphone or click a link below. That way, you’ll register your smartphone type and operating system. That will be important for giving you an opportunity for participation in projects with special requirements for your mobile device
• if you are willing to make phone calls, choose this option just if you are 99% confident in your communication skills, speaking on the phone might be difficult for some people
• if you are willing to work with offending or only adult content, I recommend you to choose both these options, it doesn't matter, I did not encounter with projects which made me feel bad about it
