Great opportunities for making extra money are provided by crowdsourcing platforms. These are amazing places for working on different kinds of projects available for people from all over the world. I am going to give you some examples of the best crowdsourcing platforms, I have ever encountered, and I can convince you, they work perfectly well.
Appen, Isoftzone, and Lionbridge are some of these amazing platforms. These companies are hiring remote employees from all over the world to participate in their projects.
No matter which country you live, you can try yourself as a Social media evaluator, Search engine evaluator, Translator, Linguistic, QA tester, etc.

For most numbers of projects there are only two things you must fit:

  • English proficiency level - intermediate or higher
  • experience with working on Internet and deep understanding how it works
These requirements are basic for most of the projects, which you might be invited for participating, and only some of them require special skills, previous experience or education degree.
To get a chance to participate, you should impress employer, so it is incredibly important to prepare a high-quality resume (CV), which will be reviewed by the company’s recruitment team.
I try to help you with making such a resume, which will increase your chances to be accepted by any companies you would like to work for.

How to create a high-quality resume? Step-by-step instruction.

I recommend following all of the steps below, especially if this is the first time, you are preparing a resume.
Here you can download a pattern and an example of a high-quality resume.
We can divide the whole resume into a few parts, each of them requires special information from you. Let us consider all of these conditional parts.

Part 1. Header

1. Provide your personal information:

  • full name (your first and last name). The middle name you can provide as well, but it usually is not required
  • date of birth, I recommend pointing your age inside of brackets as well
  • home address (the place where you live permanently or temporary). It must include your country, city (town, village), street, house's number (apartment building), postal code
  • phone number (you may give them a few numbers if you wish)
  • email address (you may give them a few emails if you wish)
  • links to your social media accounts (it might be a Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
  • personal photo (it must have good quality)

EXAMPLE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION:

    Andrea Nicolson
Date of birth: 20.01.1990 (28 years)
Address: 03130, Ukraine, Kyiv, Shevchenko str. 10, apt.1
    Phone: +38099XXXXXXX
    Facebook: facebook.com/andre.nicolson
    LinkedIn: linkedin.com/andre.nicolson
    Email: andre.nicolson@gmail.com

2. Point the main reason you are preparing this resume, its PURPOSE or OBJECTIVE

You should answer the question, why you are going to write this resume. Probably, you want to get some kinds of jobs, so you let them know about your preferable job positions.
I recommend pointing a few roles. Firstly, you have to do your own research about available job openings in the company, you want to apply for. You would better not pointing jobs, which are not available right now, however, if you are going to send your resume to the recruitment team to let them know about yourself, you can point out those roles which you are willing to take.

EXAMPLE OF OBJECTIVE:

"I am looking for a remote job with a flexible schedule as an Internet Analyst, Translator or Researcher to get an important experience for future life and to earn some extra money for living."
  • “I am looking for a remote job with a flexible schedule” – you let them know that you are interested in jobs, which have flexible working hours and remote tasks
  • “as an Internet Analyst, Translator or Researcher” – you tell them about preferable jobs which you are willing to take if the company have them available
  • “to get an important experience for future life and to earn some extra money for living” – this phrase means, that you report the main reason why you want to try this job, you want to be experienced in this area and earn extra money as well

Part 2. Main content

1. Tell them about your education background.

If a job, you want to apply for, has special requirements for the applicants, chances are they will be interested in your education level if you have a college or university degree or you just finished high school. In this part, you must point everything about your education experience, facilities, where you got your degree or where you keep studying. This might include colleges, Universities, vocation training centers, etc.

Do not forget to mention if you have a diplomas, certificates or other documents, which can confirm your education background, it might be incredibly important for some kinds of projects.

     Important notice:

"Place information about your education experience in chronological order, starting with your recent education and finishing your latest one. Do not forget to point a period of time you were studying or continue doing this".

EXAMPLE OF EDUCATION BACKGROUND:

  1. National Technical University, a specialist in design and computer graphics (bachelor’s diploma), 09.2015 – 05.2019
  2. National Technical University, student of the department of design and modern technologies (5th course, master’s diploma in the process), 05.2018 – until present time
  3. Two-month communication and public relationship courses in Financial department of the city center (certificate in communication and public relationship), 09.2018 – 11.2018
  4. American English center, English courses: upper-intermediate spoken and written (certificate B2), 10.2017 – until now
As you can see, all information was placed in chronological order and includes the name of an education facility, specialization, documents which can confirm your education level and period of time, when you were receiving it or you keep studying.

1. Tell them about your professional experience in the area you want to work in.

No matter which job you want to apply, you must definitely include in resume your previous job experience if you have it. Just in case of a starting a career, you have nothing to point. Pay attention, that you should point just an appropriate experience, you do not have to tell them about all the jobs you have ever taken in your life.
You have to point company’s name, position, you worked at if it was a part or full-time job, working responsibilities and period of time you have worked there. Don’t try to tell them about everything that you did in the previous positions, choose the most important responsibilities to let your prospective employer know about your skills and kind of job which you can do without additional training.
     Important notice:
"All information about your previous job experience you should place in chronological order as well".

EXAMPLE OF WORK EXPERIENCE:

1. CitrusUA - internet analyst (part-time), 11.2015 – 06.2016:
  • analyzing and providing feedback for different products advertisement, prices and descriptions of selling devices
  • searching for appropriate prices, checking them for competitiveness
2. LightIT – project manager, a specialist in internal communications (part-time), 07.2016 – 10.2018:
  • handling IT projects (web development and website design) and providing feedback to customers
  • time management, planning, and control of the working schedule
  • providing internal communications between several project teams

Here is one more trick I would like to share with you to increase chances to be accepted by crowdsourcing companies. I recommend you to point to your previous job experience as an Internet assessor or Advertisement rater even if you don’t have it.  Actually, I do not think that it’s easy to check if you have worked on one of these positions before and nobody will do it due to a large number of applicants, who want to participate in crowdsourcing projects. This will be fake information about you, but, maybe, it will help you to look better, than other candidates for similar roles, nobody will ask you to confirm your experience before being accepted. You might have to confirm your previous experience when it will be time for you to qualify for your first crowdsourcing project with special requirements for candidates.

Part 3. Additional content.

Besides, you can provide the following information:
  • language skills
  • hard and soft skills
  • interests (hobbies)
  • research experience (if you have it)
  • experience with software, programming skills
Language skills are incredibly important for all crowdsourcing jobs, especially if the job requires knowledge of some languages (dialects) or linguistic skills.
Provide them a list of your preferable languages, which you can speak and write. Do not forget to point your proficiency level (written and spoken) inside of brackets.

EXAMPLE OF LANGUAGES:

  • English - native
  • Russian - fluent written, advanced spoken
Your hard and soft skills are valuable for your future employer as well. You let them know about yourself with a professional point, how good you are at work, what makes you competitive in the business environment. You point out your main qualities in which you will present your potential employer and have them choose you as the right candidate for an opened position in the company if you correspond to it.      However, can you think about the difference between hard and soft skills? Actually, these are not the same skills. Hard skills you gain by professionally doing your job, these are your professional skills and capabilities of doing some jobs. Soft skills you receive communicating with people, working on your relationships with your business partners, managers or colleagues, organizing your own project activity.

EXAMPLE OF HARD AND SOFT SKILLS:

  • doing research on internet media platforms (hard skill)
  • graphics design (hard skill)
  • project management (hard skill)
  • excellent self-management (soft skill)
  • time planning (soft skill)
  • good communicator (soft skill)

What about your hobbies, what do you love doing in your free time?      Actually, that's not important information, which you can point to in your resume. It might be important for you, but not for your future employer. Think about whether you should or shouldn't give them this information, it depends on your own decision and company which you apply for.      However, in some cases, an employer might be interested to find out more details about your personality, so let them know how do you usually spend your spare time, maybe, it might be necessary for some projects, which are close to your hobbies. For example, you might love reading a lot, so you might be invited to participate in projects related to looking for special information in books or writing book reviews and so on.

EXAMPLE OF HOBBIES:

  • reading books
  • surfing the internet
  • drawing pictures
  • listening to music
  • watching TV programs, etc.

If you are going to apply for simple jobs in crowdsourcing companies, having a previous research experience doesn't make sense as well as programming skills or software experience. So you may not point such information, even if you have some previous experience, try to make your resume as short as possible without unnecessary details. It should be no more than one page. Remember, an employer doesn't need to know everything about you, just important details.
So, now you have a deep understanding and you are ready to create your first resume on your own and apply for a crowdsourcing company to get a remote flexible job.
How to fill out an application for Appen and benefits from working with this company you can review in my previous article. Do not waste your time, try it right now!

I hope you enjoyed this article and it was really useful for you. Good luck!
